Santiago Sebastian “C-bass” Chiriboga is a Percussionist, Improviser, Composer, and Educator based in New York City. He tours around the USA, Japan, Taiwan, Central Asia, and South America with various artists for performances, recordings, and to conduct master classes. C-bass happily endorses Canopus drums and Humes and Berg percussion bags.
C-bass received his bachelor’s in Drum Set Performance and Jazz Composition at Berklee College of Music. Shortly after, he moved to New York City and began touring/recording with many different artist of all genres as a sideman. He plays all over the city at various venues/festivals such as the Brooklyn Bowl, Bryant Park’s Emerging Artist Festival, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival, Blue Note, Baby’s Alright, and many more. Below are some of his bigger projects right now.
C-bass is the drummer for Sammy Rae and the Friends, a Pop/Soul band that is taking the world by storm. They have sold out mid-tier venues such as the Brooklyn Bowl, Knitting Factory, Bowery Electric, DROM and Rockwood Music Hall. Another recent project C-bass has been involved in is Aberdeen, an indie brass band that was accepted into the prestigious American Music Abroad (AMA) Program. In short, AMA was founded by the US Department of State and their goal is to globalize American music by bringing American bands to places that wouldn’t have much access to live American music. The overall purpose of this is to create a lasting cultural exchange through the power of music. From May 12th-29th, Aberdeen played and conducted dozens of performances and masterclasses around Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia for massive audiences consisting of ambassadors of each country, government officials, and students.
